So here’s what I’m currently into…
Ever since I learned that a girls trip to see Hamilton the Musical in Chicago would be my husband’s Christmas gift to me last year, I have been wearing the soundtrack out! Having a history lesson to 90’s inspired hip-hop has left me feeling awakened and inspired! If you haven’t already, check it out. Warning some material is rated PG-13, but the good far outweighs anything not so good!
Cory Asbury’s recording “Reckless Love” the entire project is superb, especially the last song titled “Born Again.” Trust me, friends, this song feels like a hug from the Holy Spirit!
Steffany Gretzinger: Any and Everything she sings sets my heart on fire, but especially “ Reckless Love.” She makes you understand how King David could have danced out of his clothes from delight and joy in the Father!
Anything by Chopin and Mozart. Here’s a tip, they go great with rainy days, coffee, and dark chocolate! You’re welcome!
“The Culture of Honor” by Danny Silk
“The Traveler’s Gift” by Andy Andrews
“ Healing The Orphan Spirit” by Leif Hetland
Projects: I’m currently working on having a children’s book I’ve written illustrated and in your hands, as well as having another book I’ve written for young women that’s a mix between comedy and self-help published! Be on the lookout!
Health and Wellness:
I believe in the colder months where we have shorter days, it’s good to adjust our patterns to that. What I’ve learned is some of my most stressful times in life have been from trying to do something great in the wrong season! So I usually eat dinner a little earlier during this time because it gets dark earlier, but I don’t skimp on dinner! I hate going to bed unsatisfied! So, contrary to much advice about eating breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince, and dinner like a pauper, I tend to reverse that order! Most importantly do what works for you!
This may be majorly unpopular, but I don’t train and exercise as intensely in the colder months as I do in the warmer months. I tend to think that the animals have it right in the sense that winter time and early spring is for hibernation! I exercise, but I don’t kill myself! My goal during these months is STAYING WELL!!! This means listening to my body more intensely, aiming for more sleep, being more intentional to hydrate (still have a long way to go on this one), doubling up on vitamin D, and being aware of the blues that can come from long winters.
I’m in transition on this one, but I have found that what works best on my skin from November through April is using Shea Butter as lotion, coconut oil to remove makeup, and a good face oil in the morning and at night. In the warmer months, I mix essential oil like lavender with coconut as a lotion. My go to everyday makeup all year long includes concealer, mascara and lip gloss over chapstick! doTERRA Chapstick is my favorite, and I can feel good about what I’m putting on my lips!
Sigh on this one…The dynamic of family is forever changing, so that means relation styles are always needing to shift. My daughter is currently 10 and my son is 8. I’m finding they have very different needs and desires and honoring those needs and wants can at times be daunting. But my best offering includes ME BEING PRESENT. I will admit, sometimes I check my phone and social media stuff a little too much, and it annoys my daughter.I get it, she has a right to be annoyed. Especially because I try to teach my children to pay attention to what’s at hand. So, at the designated family time, she wants my undivided attention. What I am making myself more aware of now, is honoring her desire by setting boundaries with my kids like, no cell phones at the dinner table, and cell phones are not invited to Friday family movie night! Those little changes are my effort to show my kids that they are the most important things to me instead of just telling them! Also, intentional blessing out loud is something I try to practice! This use to intimidate me to no end when I would hear women talk about all the scriptures you should pray over your kid! It made me anxious to think of all the things I WAS NOT doing, I have now shifted to what’s in my power to do! And that is to take one scripture that sticks out o me about my kids and simply say it over them daily! Just one, not all or five, just one makes a big difference!
I am so very excited about all of what God is enabling me to pick up and work on…again! I won’t lie, I have had a bit of inertia when it comes to projects I’ve started years ago, and literally forsook them because I was afraid! But with my new and rapidly growing understanding of the importance of moving through fears, I’m happy to say I am on the move again!!!! At least between the hours of 8:00 am and 2:30 pm, when I have to go pick up my kids!!! Here is what ‘s coming:
